How to Use this Course

We encourage and expect our member organizations, and their representatives, to develop a broad and increasingly deep understanding of water challenges and solutions in California (and the West, by extension).  With members coming from multiple disciplines, roles, contexts, and parts of the country, learning is core to CWAC’s work.  Foundational water knowledge helps all members engage better in network conversations, project development

The California Water Course is a 12-video (each very short) learning series developed by Samuel Sandoval Solis, PhD, Professor and Cooperative Extension Specialist In Water Resources with the University of California, Davis and University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources. He is considered a very knowledgeable water expert and a very good teacher.

The course introduces how water systems function across California. It also explores how water moves through California’s diverse river systems and aquifers, how climate change affects hydrologic processes, and why integrated water management is essential.
